Conver weed boat at the Littleport & Downham Drainage Board

Littleport and Downham Internal Drainage Board took delivery of their new Conver 480 in July and have put it to good use cutting and raking the 34.5km of drains in their pumped catchments which have access for a boat.  The Conver was chosen on price, specification and capability.

The Board cut their Main Drain Systems in four of their six pumped catchments twice a year in accordance with their Environmental Policy.

“We only use the boat when drains are at summer level to ensure that the main central channels are kept clear in case we need to pump during heavy rainfall” explained the Board’s Assistant Engineer, Roger Smith.

Littleport and Downham is a member of the Ely Group of Internal Drainage Boards who have a second Conver boat which has been in operation since 1995.
